Happy Birthday Grandmother

Today is not a good day for me. It's my grandmother birthday. Mrs. Joe Ella Bryant Hunt
She transitioned to her resting place less than two years ago.
My grandmother taught me many things and I will list a few:

1. She taught me to always look your best.
Momma (that's what I called her) always looked good. Fashionable is more like it. She took pride in looking put together and encouraged us to do the same. Momma wore her heels until about two weeks before her death. Only stop because my Auntie Gwen told her too.

2. Perfume. Yes! I remember as a little girl she had Revlon's Charlie on her vanity. A nice sweet scent. I couldn't wait until i was old enough to wear some sweet smelling stuff.

3. Family is important. She loved her 5 children (2 boys and 3 girls) and their children and her great-grand children.

4. Cooking. I wanted to make homemade ice cream, peach cobbler, family dinners, and even her beans and weenies tasted so good. LOL! Childhood favorite by all my cousins at sometime. The last 3 Thanksgivings I was privileged to have her at my home for dinner and she approved.

5. House was always cleaned. I stayed with her during my high school years.

6. I wanted to create like Momma. She was a seamstress by profession. Momma could create something that you wanted or she would do your pattern.

7. She loved God. Reading her Bible and praying daily with no shame. She was a women strong in faith.

8. She wanted her family succeed in all that was good and godly.

9. She was one to listen first and speak second.

10. She smiled no matter what

11. Independence. I was taught that even as a woman, I should know how to work and be able to stand on my own two feet.
One thing I hate my grandmother never got from me was a grandson-in-law. She always wanted me to get married. When that day comes Momma it will be dedicated to you.

Well, that's a little bit about the other woman I call Momma and I'm gonna go before this flood of tears block my vision.

Momma, I miss you more than I let others know! 91 years was just not enough for me. Love you so much.

I Watched a Facebook Video

I watched a video that a well know morning show host posted on his Facebook page..

It grieved me that we can laugh and fun so freely at the cost of others pain and suffering.  I know.  I know.  It’s funny and at a different time in my life I would be rolling on the floor laughing too.  I am fighting the good fight of faith every day because times are hard.  People are hurting.  Some people are truly at the lowest point in their lives.  It is a sad time for some.

As I looked at the video this scripture can to mind and I thank God that I am reading His words and He would bring His words back to me.  It is written, “Whoever makes fun of beggars insults their Maker. Whoever laughs at someone else’s trouble will be punished.”  Proverbs 17:5

I don’t want to be ignorant [lacking knowledge or awareness in general; uneducated or unsophisticated] of His instructions, but I want to observe to do all that is written in His Word.

Y’all, we must obey the words of God.  I don’t know maybe it’s because of the challenges I’m doing this month.  #GirlTrek 9 days in the fruit of the Spirit, 31 Days in Proverbs, or Desmond Tutu Forgiveness Challenge, but I thank God that I am changing for the better.  I am putting away childish things.  I want to inspire others to move forward by taking one step at a time.  I want families healthy.  I want lives to be restored.  I want us to crush the chains that hold us down.

Getting off the Soapbox,
Angel

Angel's thoughts on the Matter of Splurges

The KEY is portion control and self control. I have self control!  I need reminding.

It is written in Galatians 5:22-23 But the fruit that the Spirit produces in a person’s life is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and SELF-CONTROL. There is no law against these kinds of things.

God has given me the ability to be in control of own actions.  This includes foods.  I choose the type of foods I eat.  I choose the amount of foods I eat.

Newbie!

Hello.  My name is Angel.

Trying this something new, blogging.  I know blogging has been around for years.  Well, to be completely honest I been wanting to do this for years.  I don't truly have a specific topic, but I will learn as I continue on this journey.
